Middleware Engineer II

At MicroPact our goal is to make the working world a better place by developing and implementing BPM and Case Management software to make our clients more efficient.

But we couldn’t do any of that without Technical Operations. Our IT Operations team is the glue that holds it all together. If you join our Hosting team, you’ll be working with the servers, networking frameworks, test beds, development platforms and data center that allows us to do what we do best—develop innovative software.

We have an immediate opening for a Middleware Engineer specializing in migrating applications to a brand new AWS environment. The Middleware Engineer will be someone who can bridge the gap technically between development, production and the infrastructure and continually improve the hosting experience for our customers.  Responsibilities

  • Designs, plans, and integrates cloud computing and virtualization systems using infrastructure as code and modern cloud-native deployment techniques such as DevOps
  • Develops automation scripts for efficient deployment and operations of cloud and virtualization systems
  • Manage deployments for all environments (development, test/staging and production) to in Windows and Linux environments
  • Evaluates and reports on new cloud and virtualization technologies to enhance capabilities of cloud- based and virtualized services
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards as they relate to configuration management, hardening, and security
  • Participate in advising and performing software installs and upgrades for customers who host our software on their own servers, or who host with us
  • Develop concise, detailed documentation for new and existing environments
  • Participate in incident management remediation with cross functional teams and work to resolve ongoing related issues/crisis
  • Maintains technical expertise relevant industry standards and best practices in cloud computing and virtualization technologies such as cloud service provider architecture, design, and configuration; cloud deployment models including public, community, private, and hybrid; cloud service delivery models including infrastructure-, platform-, and software-as-a-service; automation; hypervisors; containers; virtual compute, storage, and networks; virtual infrastructure management; self- provisioning; and scaling

Must be eligible to obtain and hold a US Government security clearance of Secret or higher

Job Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud architecture, operations, DevOps, or administration
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud automation and scripting
  • 2+ years of experience creating deployment scripts (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Ansible)
  • 1+ years of experience with containers (e.g., Docker)
  • A minimum of one AWS Professional level certification
  • In depth understanding of Cloud Migration methodologies and best practices
  • 4+ years supporting of Java web application technologies such as Tomcat, JBoss, Weblogic and WAS
  • Ability to work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of various factors which often require interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical teams
  • Must be able to participate in a rotating on call schedule supporting a 24/7 production environment
